Around 2000, “We started experimenting with Twin Fins and were stoked on the quickness, acceleration and its aerial performance, but, we ran into the same old problems inherent to that design, lack of stability and tendency to slide out. The Firefly Quad came about when Nathan Fletcher and Cole were searching for something more exciting than the standard thruster, which had been stagnating, or at least, getting a bit boring throughout the 1990’s. The Cole Firefly Quad is the culmination of years of experimentation research and testing. This back half of the board features a smooth moderate rocker, with an exaggerated tail kick out the tail for tight radius turns in the pocket.Although this board was originally designed for small to medium size surf, the smooth outline and full length single concave bottom, has proven to maintain it’s drive and hold an edge into larger surf as well. The Slingshot features an extremely low entry rocker, allowing for instant acceleration and making it a wave caching machine. The Slingshot features a fuller nose with a wide forward outline, round forgiving rails, and a flatter deck. They are the perfect boards to take on a surf trip! This is the model for good waves and good surfing. These boards have fairly narrow tails (usually round-pins or narrow round-squares) for holding power and control. The bottom contours feature a blend of flat, vee, and double concave vee for a balance of speed and control. A fair amount of tail rocker allows for snappy turns and the board fits nicely into the curve of the pocket. The Pistol features a sleek outline with a smooth entry rocker. These boards are excellent for perfecting tricks, such as, tail slide, airs, and reverses. ![]() These boards are great for smaller to medium surf. This is basically our Bullet fish with a bat tail. The Bat Fish has a wider rounded nose for catching waves easily and planing through sections. The Loose Cannon is perfect for smaller and less powerful surf, while still being solid and stable enough, to ride, well into overhead plus surf. The back of the board has a moderate tail kick and a slight vee out the last 6 inches of the tail. The board has a low entry rocker, with a substantial single concave through the front of the board with a double concave dropped into it between the fins. The board is designed with a full outline in the nose, a pronounced hip at the front fins and a wide rounded square tail. The Loose Cannon is a full outlined shortboard inspired by the trend towards the shorter wider boards being ridden by many of the top pros these days.
