He wanted to create a “rational way to describe color” that would use decimal notation instead of common color names, which he felt were foolish and misleading. The gray scale serves as the center pole, with white at the top and black at the bottom – Photo courtesy Jacobolus Chart (CC BY-SA 3.0) Because each color has three dimensions, an arrangement of all colors takes a three-dimensional form. It remains in use by artists, designers, and anyone who works with color to this day.Īlbert Munsell was the first person to distinguish hue, value, and chroma into different, consistent dimensions and to create a color solid system to describe them in the 3-dimensional world. Munsell created the Munsell color system to describe color in the early 20 th century. In order to create a color scheme in any setting that’s pleasing to the eye, you need to factor in all the traits of the colors you’re using.Īlbert H. The color wheel is just one way to understand color. While that’s a great way to understand color relationships, to truly understand color, you need to also look at individual colors and their dimensions: hue, value, and chroma. When you think of color theory, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the color wheel. Hue, Value, and Chroma: Three Dimensions of Color In this post, we’ll go over the definitions of chroma, value, and hue, explain why they matter, and give a few pointers about how to apply these principles to create great designs. But they’re crucial to how we see the world and interact with color. One of the biggest threats to elephant populations is the ivory trade, as the animals are poached for their ivory tusks. They appear to have self-awareness, and appear to show empathy for dying and dead family members.Īfrican bush elephants and Asian elephants are listed as endangered and African forest elephants as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Elephant intelligence has been compared with that of primates and cetaceans. They communicate by touch, sight, smell, and sound elephants use infrasound and seismic communication over long distances. Elephants can live up to 70 years in the wild. Calves are the centre of attention in their family groups and rely on their mothers for as long as three years. They enter a state of increased testosterone and aggression known as musth, which helps them gain dominance over other males as well as reproductive success. Adult bulls mostly interact with family groups when looking for a mate. Males (bulls) leave their family groups when they reach puberty and may live alone or with other males. The groups, which do not include bulls, are usually led by the oldest cow, known as the matriarch. Females (cows) tend to live in family groups, which can consist of one female with her calves or several related females with offspring. ![]() Elephants have a fission–fusion society, in which multiple family groups come together to socialise. They are considered to be keystone species, due to their impact on their environments. ![]() They are herbivorous, and they stay near water when it is accessible. African elephants have larger ears and concave backs, whereas Asian elephants have smaller ears, and convex or level backs.Įlephants are scattered throughout sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia and are found in different habitats, including savannahs, forests, deserts, and marshes. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The trunk is used for breathing and is prehensile, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Distinctive features of elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, pillar-like legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The order was formerly much more diverse during the Pleistocene, but most species became extinct during the Late Pleistocene epoch. Toughness is gained largely from losing fights, and thereafter you gain a little by simply being in fights, then eventually you'll turn into a badass. Just do not expect to start this game out the gate and kick ass, you need to lose a lot before you become formidable. Hell if you want, you can make an army of bounty hunters. There are NPC's that are specific to bounty hunters that you can get jobs from, also bounties you can pick up from the stores. If I had to compare the combat to other games, its loosely more like an RTS where dependent on your orders your characters will attack/block on their own. Lastly you can have defensive, passive or aggressive "stances" you can use where your character will focus more on blocking/parrying, attacking or just ignoring combat. You can micromanage to a degree, but its not necessarily required. You have stats to affect your damage, hit chance and resistance. Combat can consist of a variety of weapons able to hit specific body parts and limbs with the aforementioned areas specific damage. The bottom contours feature a blend of flat, vee, and double concave vee for a balance of speed and control. A fair amount of tail rocker allows for snappy turns and the board fits nicely into the curve of the pocket. The Pistol features a sleek outline with a smooth entry rocker. The consistent updates keep the gunplay from ever feeling repetitive and boring, and no match is ever the same as another, no matter the mode or map. Being able to squad up with friends and try out different combinations of Legend abilities in the hunt for that satisfying Champion win screen is the perfect mix of thrilling and approachable. I only had one experience of lagging with too many effects in one of the busiest areas in World’s Edge (in the location Fragment) in my few hours of playtime.Īpex Legends has become my go-to game when I want something fun and competitive. I played on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is now a year and a half old, and the performance was smooth – I rarely got any stutters and the environments loaded in quickly with barely any texture pops. The main limitation at the moment is the fact that Apex Mobile doesn’t currently have full controller support (I was able to connect PlayStation and Xbox controllers via Bluetooth and they did work at times, but not consistently) so you have to play using the touchscreen of your phone or tablet. ![]() But this also makes Fade being a mobile-only Legend feel like a bit of a waste. And the less clutter you have with different Legend abilities on smaller mobile screens the better, so this roster feels appropriate for what Apex Mobile is right now. In any case, the collection of the 10 Legends in mobile are more than enough to pick from, especially since in this version of Apex the abilities don’t seem to matter as much as basic gunplay and outshooting your enemies. There haven’t been any platform-specific Legends before, and while I understand wanting to entice established Apex players to try out Mobile, it feels a bit odd and unfair to the community that’s made this game as successful as it is. Releasing Fade as a mobile-only Legend is an interesting decision since I could see his movement abilities being used in creative ways on console and PC. This ability has a 10-second cool down before it’s activated after a slide again.įade’s suit phases him into the void and recalls him to his last location, up to 60 meters.įade throws an activator core from his suit and the explosion deals minor damage and sends everyone in its radius into the void, rendering anyone affected unable to damage or be damaged. Fade's Bona FidesĪfter sliding, Fade gets a slight speed boost. ![]() So Fade’s entire kit can really serve to keep him surviving as long as possible on his own. While his ultimate throws nearby enemies into a void where they can’t take or receive damage, if you’re in trouble you can also step into the ult’s radius to enter the void and become invulnerable yourself. He makes a great solo-player Legend because his kit is built to really benefit his own survivability and maneuverability. The 10th is a first: a platform exclusive named Fade, who is pretty reminiscent of Ovewatch’s Tracer in that he comes with a recall ability that blips him back to where he was a few seconds ago. Having the original group available feels fine, especially since these Legends are still highly viable in the original game – and they’re even more so here without the additional Legends who were dropped in the PC/console version after launch. ![]() Apex Mobile isn’t cross-platform compatible with its sibling but it’s not a big departure, either: it uses the same basic formula of playing in teams of three, and of the 10 Legends available at launch, nine are the originals from Apex Legends’ launch: Bangalore, Bloodhound, Caustic, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage, Octane, Pathfinder, Wraith. ![]() Back in the day it was just a mantra with funny theatrics by actors Jasmine Guy and Debbie Allen, but there was truth in that lesson, and it’s that healing comes by moving forward, even as we wait. Watching this same episode now as an adult, I get it. Your life is not over, not by a long shot. Our testimony becomes our ministry as we share our deliverance with others. We may not be able to see it while we go through it, but there is ministry in our pain, and though weeping may endure for a night, joy will come in the morning. There are even circumstances that have left us bruised and nearly broken beyond recognition.Īnd yet Paul says in Romans 8:28 that all things work for our good. There are painful experiences we have endured that we did nothing to deserve. There are things happening in our lives that we cannot change. This was Whitley’s final lesson, and my own, in many ways. In order to relax your muscles, you have to breathe in peace and breathe out stress. The instructor will usually begin the warm up or end the cool down with a few deep breaths. If you’ve ever taken a dance or fitness class, you know how essential breathing is to preparing your body for the cardio or stretching you’re about to engage in. Part of the art of relaxing is releasing. I challenge you to allow God to blow your mind by taking the time to live in the here and now. If you have been following my posts, then you’ve already done the work mentioned in both Who Are You and Bag Lady. God cannot reveal new things to you if your vision is clouded by your past. He will keep us in perfect peace, but that requires our mind to be stayed on Him as we trust the future plans he has for us. Similarly for us, God wants us to unwrap the little presents that He’s set right in front of us, but we’ll miss out on His gifts if we are out of touch with His voice and direction. That means she had to open her eyes and see what was in front of her. In order to fully walk into her destiny, she had to relax, relate and be present. Whitley’s character was stuck in the past, and it caused her a load of unnecessary stress. People are typically unavailable emotionally because they struggle with releasing areas of their past that keep them from being able to relate to life now. Part of moving forward is living in the here and now. New Yorkers never smile! However, if I truly let go of my baggage and reflect on God's blessings in my life, I cannot help but to smile. My biggest struggle with being relatable was that I struggled with smiling (I'm actually laughing at myself now). One of the areas God challenged me on last year was how relatable I was to people.Īsk yourself: Do people feel happy after meeting me or am I the Debbie Downer of the party? Your tone, demeanor, how you walk, and your overall upkeep sends nonverbal cues to others that can impact their perception of you. You may probably start to wonder if they are still too hung up on their past to have given any thought to the here and now with you.Įverything you do sends a message. There’s nothing worse than going on a date with someone and having to listen to that person talk about their past relationships like every other sentence is about their ex. How do you relax? If you could pick up and go anywhere for vacation, where would you go? How do you create a space for “me time” to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit? Relate and be present We serve a God that can turn things around for our good at any moment. Stop stressing over how things look right now. God promised us abundant life, but that can only happen when we focus on Him with a spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving. Let God fill those voids while you learn how to rest in His timing. The advice the therapist gives her, which has continued to be a mantra for many today, is to “relax, relate, and release”! The therapist, played by Debbie Allen, makes it very clear to Whitley that she cannot move forward in life if she continues to hold onto the past. In one particular episode she goes to see a therapist. Several episodes into the show, we see the inner turmoil of Whitley as she works through her feelings for Julian – a childhood friend that she had always believed she was destined to marry – and a budding love she feels for Dwayne, a guy who had not been born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who was actually very awkward when it came to women. All of this and more kept me intrigued and dreaming of the adventures I would face when it was my turn to go away to school. Of course it included all the gossip, boy/girl crushes and major decisions, like whether or not to go Greek. That show was my first introduction into all the twists and turns that can happen as one transitions from being a teenager into an adult within a campus setting. The duo launched Heretic in April 2013 with the initial aim to produce Greek arthouse films, but that model began to change with the evolving landscape. It premiered as the opening-night film at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and would unite Karnavas with Kontrovrakis. That film would become Karnavas’ first feature production, Wasted Youth, which was inspired by the shooting of Alexandros Grigoropoulos, one of the events that led to the 2008 Greek riots. “I told him I didn’t know anything about how to produce a film, but he told me, ‘No, you know but you don’t know you know.’” Karnavas started his career in commercials and the music business before his good friend Argyris Papadimitropoulos wanted to make a film and asked him to produce it. ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Coproduction Office Humble beginnings The company is increasingly getting involved in English-language projects but also is keeping its hand in more arthouse, European fare.
