The one and only time that I've been able to bog down SecureCRT's keyword matching (all the way to the application reporting as 'not responding') was when I had multiple active tabs connected one was doing an ftp transfer of a large file and one of those tabs was capturing (logging) a 'show tech' from our Nexus 5k switch. The limitation *appears* to be the complexity of those RegEx expressions. I personally tested a keyword file with several hundred entries and SecureCRT never skipped a beat. In my experience thus far, the number of keywords has largely been irrelevant. ![]() ![]() Once again.thanks for the feature! I will definitely be using it quite extensively. What's the maximum number of (regex/literal) strings I can add before SecureCRT starts to have a noticeable slowdown in performance? Can you provide a more extensive list of sample regex strings that are compatible with SecureCRT?ħ. Disconnecting from the session is not sufficient. It seems that I have to completely shutdown SecureCRT before the list reads all the other key word highlighting rules. Once I've created a list with one entry and applied it to a session which is still connected, it will highlight the first keyword in the list but no others. If I wanted to match a string and then highlight the whole line or a series of characters/words following the line, how would/can I do this?ĥ. What's the reason for not allowing spaces in the regular experessions? The program says that it can't use regex strings with spaces, but in other programs I can use the literal space character as well as \s to indicate a space without a problem?Ĥ. If I want case sensitivities to be applied to a particular string but not others, would I have to use a regex string for that?ģ. Can I use a combination of literal strings and regex strings?Ģ. Having said that I have some questions as the documentation of the feature is somewhat limited.ġ. Now you can edit the session options for any of your saved sessions (or the Default session, if you want it configured for all of your existing and future sessions/connections) and in the Keyword Highlighting category of the Session Options window you'll now see " Cisco Words" as an entry in the " List name" drop-down.I would like to first say that it's awesome to see my feature request (keyword highlighting) appearing the latest release of SecureCRT!!.If a " Keywords" subfolder doesn't exist in SecureCRT's Config folder, create one there and set permissions on it (if necessary) so that you can write/copy files into that location. If you don't know where SecureCRT's Configuration folder is, open Options / Global Options and navigate to the Configuration paths category.ini file to the " Keywords" subfolder found in SecureCRT's Configuration folder. ![]() Download the " Cisco Words.ini" file or " Cisco Words for BlackBckgrd.ini" if you haven't already done so. ![]() Overview:Ĭopy the " Cisco Words.ini" file into the " Keywords" folder found in SecureCRT's Configuration folder location. If for any reason you don't want to bother with the script - or it fails to work for you because you're on an unsupported platform/version - you can "import" your keywords file manually. Want to manually import a keyword INI file instead of using the script? Please see this forum post by user Casey to pay homage to where this all began. Cisco Keyword INI file - Dark (for dark backgrounds). That's the version where Keyword Highlighting with regular expressions was first made available. Note: This script will only work with SecureCRT version 7.3 and later. This example demonstrates an easy way to import a Keyword Highlighting INI file into SecureCRT.
