You can recruit more folks as you go along and make yourself a legion of bounty hunters to run as a group, or to spread out through the sandboxed land.įor this type of game, the combat was the most refreshing. Toughness is gained largely from losing fights, and thereafter you gain a little by simply being in fights, then eventually you'll turn into a badass. Just do not expect to start this game out the gate and kick ass, you need to lose a lot before you become formidable. Hell if you want, you can make an army of bounty hunters. There are NPC's that are specific to bounty hunters that you can get jobs from, also bounties you can pick up from the stores. If I had to compare the combat to other games, its loosely more like an RTS where dependent on your orders your characters will attack/block on their own. Lastly you can have defensive, passive or aggressive "stances" you can use where your character will focus more on blocking/parrying, attacking or just ignoring combat. You can micromanage to a degree, but its not necessarily required. You have stats to affect your damage, hit chance and resistance. Combat can consist of a variety of weapons able to hit specific body parts and limbs with the aforementioned areas specific damage. The jaws of defeat are always threatening to chomp down and winning anyway is absolutely exciting in ways most games can't even try to grasp. I love watching fights so I personally love it.Īt its core kenshi is about beating the odds so expect to get beat down only to quietly crawl along after playing dead, healing your crew and repairing your machines to swipe victory over the would be victors taking too long in thier spoils. ![]() Making the most of your 'units' and microing targets and movement can be pretty important in tough fights, especially as many enemies are hostile to each other. It is mostly watching though, no abilities to activate or anything though the stats that make it up certainly have enough impact to really feel skill gain. ![]() Watching the fights feels a lot like the old BioWare knight of the old republic as the animation really are lovely to watch with all the active blocking including directionality so having an elite fighter surrounded is twirls of blocks in all directions. It's honestly a bit of mix between rpg and rts so definitely not Skyrim.
